Prevent fire damage by knowing the safety tips

Fire safety tips change according to the season. Bonfire and grilling season is here and that means there are more safety tips to be aware of to protect you, your family, and your home from fire damage. Below is a list of Fire Safety Tips to protect yourself from fire damage this summer. On average, 8,900 home fires are started by grills each year!


Campfire Tips



  • Follow the rules of the area you are in such as town rules or park rules

  • Stop, Drop, & Roll

  • Check the location of the bonfire to make sure the fire wont spread especially to a forest

  • Keep gas, lighter fluid, and other flammable substances far away from the fire and igniting materials

  • Control and monitor the fire

  • Be prepared

  • Know how to put out a fire (douse with water and/or bury it with dirt)


Grilling & Outdoor Cooking



  • Do not wear loose clothing while grilling

  • Only grill outdoors in well ventilated areas

  • Never pour lighter fluid on a lit grill

  • When using a gas grill make sure to check the connections to propane tanks between fuel line and the tank

  • Always allow the coals to cool completely before disposing of them
